Tucked within the very extra Atlantis The Royal, AWAKEN Spa is anything but. There are no shiny logos, or over-the-top branding. No reminder that you’re in one of the world’s most recognisable hotels. You could be anywhere and that’s exactly the beauty. This is where you come to tune out, switch off, and press the internal reset button.

The design

The design works in elegant contrast: dark, tactile corridors lined with ribbed metal and rough timber give way to smooth marble and flickers of light. It’s all been carefully considered, right down to the angle of the Italian marble veins, laid diagonally to channel energy without distraction (yes, really). Givenchy-inspired French panelling in the vestibules adds a dose of drama, and if you’re someone who notices these things, you’ll clock the quiet luxury of it all. It’s sensual but not showy. Everything has been chosen with longevity in mind, nothing feels trend driven.

The experience

Before your treatment, you’re invited to select a crystal - Earth, Fire, Water or Air - which determines your bespoke oil and massage approach. I instinctively chose Earth, a grounding option that paired rhythmic palm pressure with a blend of Swedish, aromatherapy, and Reiki techniques designed to restore energy flow and melt tension.

Beyond the treatment, there’s a salt therapy cave, an alchemy experience shower -pure bliss- a snow fountain, hydrotherapy pool, and a plant-based refreshment lounge that you’ll struggle to leave. All products are vegan and cruelty-free, from cult names like Augustinus Bader to AWAKEN’s own signature line. You can just hear water flowing and birds chirping as you float between spaces. It’s worth booking a massage for the spa facilities alone, or simply for that rare feeling of stillness in a city that rarely slows down.
