Andaz Dubai The Palm: art and what’s new

We first visited Andaz Dubai The Palm over a year ago, and it’s interesting to see how the hotel has continued to evolve since then. The art collection by Mahmoud Al Abadi was already a defining part of the hotel and remains just as striking, while new additions, including The Magic Table dinner experience and a coffee bar in the creative co-working space, give guests even more reasons to spend time here. 

Staying at Andaz Dubai The Palm

There is something wonderfully convenient about Andaz Dubai The Palm. Located on the trunk of The Palm, it’s easy to get in and head out while still giving you that feeling of being away from the pace of the city. The hotel has a private beach, making it an easy base for a zen weekend stay or simply a change of scenery.

But the location is only the beginning. Step inside and the creative character of the hotel quickly takes over.

Art at Andaz Dubai The Palm

Art has always been central to the Andaz experience and one of the most memorable elements is the extensive collection by Emirati artist Mahmoud Al Abadi.

Arabic calligraphy is at the heart of Al Abadi’s practice, he began learning calligraphy at a young age and later studied at the Sharjah Arabic Calligraphy Centre. His work has since expanded into graphic design, fine art and sculpture, but the Arabic letter remains an important part of his art pieces. 

What makes his work particularly interesting is the way he moves beyond traditional calligraphic practice, playing with the shape and movement of Arabic letters and treating them as visual forms as much as words.

Beginning in 2014, his collection at Andaz The Palm developed into an evolving body of work inspired by local heritage. Arabic calligraphy, vivid colour, geometric forms and references to nature appear throughout the hotel, creating a contemporary take on traditional influences.

In the Andaz Lounge, the ‘All Colors of Love’ collection transforms Arabic letters into colourful abstract compositions. While we all see the paintings in a different light, they all have one meaning: love. 

Elsewhere, traditional forms such as the burqa are reinterpreted through colour and calligraphy while metallic works incorporate poetry and references to glory and achievement. The burqas are placed along the corridors of Andaz.

There are around 100 pieces throughout the hotel, and some are particularly clever. Artworks conceal practical elements such as service doors and fire hose points, turning something functional into part of the design.

What’s Changed at Andaz Dubai The Palm?

Since our last visit, Andaz Dubai The Palm has added a few new ways to eat and linger, while the art collection remains an important part of the experience.

The Magic Table

The Magic Table is an immersive dining experience built around a five-course dinner, with storytelling woven throughout the evening.

Rather than simply sitting down for dinner, guests become part of the experience as projection, illusion and theatrical elements transform the table into a stage. Each course becomes part of the story, making the meal feel more like an evening of entertainment than a traditional dinner.

It feels perfectly suited to Andaz. Like the artwork surrounding it, the experience encourages you to look twice and expect the unexpected.

Andaz x Mokha 1450 Co Working Lounge and Coffee Bar

Another new addition is the Andaz x Mokha 1450 Co Working Lounge, a relaxed space designed for working, meeting or simply spending some time away from the usual hotel lobby.

You can settle in with your laptop, meet someone over coffee or pick up a book and stay for a while. The new coffee bar, created with Dubai speciality coffee brand Mokha 1450, offers carefully prepared specialty coffees and a choice of brewing methods alongside refreshing teas and creative coffee-based drinks.

For anyone who enjoys the ritual of a beautifully made coffee, it’s worth making time for.

Rooms at Andaz Dubai The Palm

The rooms continue the hotel's contemporary approach, balancing comfort with a distinctly modern aesthetic. Natural textures, warm tones and thoughtful design details create spaces that feel relaxed rather than overly formal.

After a day spent exploring the artwork, enjoying dinner or working over coffee, the rooms provide somewhere comfortable to return to, switch off and enjoy the quieter side of Dubai.

Andaz Dubai The Palm has always had a creative personality. What’s interesting now is how that personality continues to evolve, bringing together art, dining, coffee, work and leisure in a way that makes the hotel feel like somewhere to experience rather than simply somewhere to stay.
