Who we are
Art in the Middle Magazine LLC operates artinthemiddle.com and the Sketchy Supper event series. References to 'we', 'us' or 'our' in this policy refer to Art in the Middle Magazine LLC, based in Dubai, UAE.
What data we collect
We collect: email addresses and names when you subscribe to our newsletter or register for an event; usage data (pages visited, time on site) via analytics tools; device and browser information for security and performance purposes; room photos you upload to the AI Room visualiser; payment information processed securely via our payment processor (we do not store card details).
How we use your data
We use your data to send editorial newsletters you have subscribed to; process event and artwork bookings and send confirmations; generate AI Room visualisations you request; improve site performance and user experience; comply with legal obligations; and, if you start a purchase (an event ticket, an artwork, a gift voucher or AI credits) but don't complete it, to send you a single one-time email reminding you that it's still available — you can opt out of these reminder emails at any time by replying to one with 'unsubscribe'.
Legal basis for processing
We process data on the basis of your consent (for newsletter subscriptions, analytics and marketing cookies, and AI Room uploads), contractual necessity (for event and artwork bookings), and our legitimate interests in operating a secure and effective publication platform.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with the following processors, each only for the purpose named: Stripe (payment processing); Cloudflare (content delivery and security, including DDoS protection); Brevo (newsletter and transactional email delivery); Google (Analytics and Ads, including Google Maps on venue pages); Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn (advertising and conversion tracking, only once you accept marketing cookies via our cookie banner); and xAI (processes room photos you upload to generate an AI Room visualisation — images are sent to xAI's API for that purpose only). We may disclose data where required by UAE law.
Data retention
Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Event and artwork booking data is retained for up to 3 years for legal and financial record-keeping. Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is deleted or aggregated.
Your rights
Under applicable UAE data-protection regulations, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data; withdraw consent at any time; object to processing; and lodge a complaint with the relevant data-protection authority.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to operate the site and, only after you accept them in the cookie banner shown on your first visit, analytics and advertising cookies (Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn) to understand how visitors use our content. You can change your choice at any time using that same on-site banner — this is the control that actually determines which of these load, rather than your browser's own settings.
