Whether you've seen them dozens of times or never at all, some films are worth experiencing on the big screen. That's exactly what Cinema Akil's Summer of Classics programme is all about.
Before July comes to an end, make time for a trip to Cinema Akil, where nine films from the Summer of Classics programme are bringing unforgettable stories back to the big screen.
The lineup will include beloved classics and some new releases, spanning nearly seven decades of the silver screen. If you’ve been waiting for The Odyssey, catch it back-to-back with Inception in a special screening for Christopher Nolan fans.
Enjoy timeless stories brought back to the screen, like Billy Wilder’s comedy Some Like It Hot, which stays just as witty as when it first hit audiences in 1959. Alternatively, the programme also includes a number of gripping thrillers for those who fancy something a little darker, like Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs.
With the world cup over, get your fill of football from two documentaries exploring one of the most controversial moments in sporting history. The Match by Juan Cabral and Santiago Franco examines the infamous 1986 Argentina-England World Cup clash through the lens of history and politics, paired with Asif Kapadia's acclaimed documentary Diego Maradona.
