A taste of Tuscany, with art and design at its heart
In the centre of Dubai's bustle, Vera Versilia feels like a little piece of calm. Inspired by Forte dei Marmi, the seaside town on Tuscany's northern coast, the restaurant brings a touch of the Italian Riviera to the city, with an inviting atmosphere, thoughtful interiors and often rooted in the Flavors and traditions of coastal Italy.
Carrara marble, sand toned colours and floor to ceiling windows give the space a light, relaxed feel, offering a welcome escape from the pace of the city outside. But what makes Vera particularly interesting is its art.
The restaurant feels almost like a gallery, with an eclectic collection of artwork and decorative pieces sourced through artisans in Forte dei Marmi. The pieces vary in shape, colour and texture, each bringing its own character to the space, yet everything comes together beautifully. There is a natural connection between the works, creating a collection that feels considered without being too uniform.

One of my favourite pieces is the large Chef's Kiss artwork above the open kitchen. It catches your eye and adds a playful touch to the setting, perfectly suited to a restaurant where food and creativity go hand in hand. It is these individual details that make exploring the space so enjoyable. Your eyes are constantly drawn to something new, whether it is a piece of artwork, the texture of the marble or one of the decorative objects that gives the interiors their character.
The private dining room has a different feel, with a sense of exclusivity and a striking grand light fitting that immediately draws the eye. Look around and there is always another detail to discover. The variety of pieces and finishes gives the interiors plenty of interest, while the overall look remains harmonious.
There is a lovely sense of place here. The artwork reflects Tuscany’s long tradition of craftsmanship, where art is part of everyday life rather than something reserved for galleries. These pieces are more than decorative touches. They bring a little of Forte dei Marmi's artistic spirit to Dubai and give the restaurant a personality of its own.
And then, of course, there is the food
Led by Michelin starred Chef Marco Garfagnini, a native of Versilia, the menu celebrates Tuscan traditions with a contemporary touch, placing seafood firmly in the spotlight. The upgraded Vera Seafood Tower, designed for two, arrives with Sicilian red and purple prawns, langoustines, oysters, tartares and sliced scallops. It is a generous celebration of the sea and a lovely way to start a meal with friends.

The Selezione di Tartare brings together tuna, salmon and seabass, while chilled tomato gazpacho with seared langoustine offers a fresh, summery combination. For something a little more indulgent, the Pizza Caviale, topped with caviar, mozzarella and chives, adds a touch of Italian luxury.
Pasta lovers will find plenty to enjoy, too. The lobster linguine and saffron pappardelle with langoustine showcase the kitchen's artisan approach, while the Fregola for two, inspired by Tuscany's traditional Cacciucco fish stew, offers a taste of the region's coastal heritage. Grilled seabream with gremolata and grilled lobster with lemon dressing continue the seafood theme, allowing the ingredients to take centre stage.
In a city that rarely slows down, Vera offers a welcome change of pace. Whether visiting for a leisurely lunch or settling in for dinner, it is a place to enjoy good food, take in the art and spend time in good company. A little of the Tuscan way of life, right here in Dubai.
